Lumber score

We scored a windfall at the Rebuilding Center in the form of enough reclaimed lumber to frame most of our tiny house.

The Rebuilding Center is a local nonprofit organization that deconstructs old homes and diverts valuable building materials back into the building stream. They also accept donations.

I’ve bought SO MUCH stuff from them over the last twenty years, both cool vintage finds and building materials. It always feels good to give old things new life and get a deal at the same time. The entire place speaks to the salvage junkies in both of us.

This load of ordinary framing lumber is actually kind of a rare find. The old growth fir they often have is too heavy for a tiny house, and is hard to frame ordinary walls with. We were lucky to show up just in time to sort through this batch of more typical lumber. Thanks again Rebuilding Center!
