Working out framing details. Design is always a process of back-and-forth. We started with our door and window sizes and a rough plan for placement based on how we’ll use the space. Next is drawing in the framing, prioritizing structural requirements. The openings will be shifted slightly to accommodate any essential structural details. Then we look at placement for nailing, and finally adjust the sizing on our remaining stud bays to make the most efficient use of insulation.
It’s been a back and forth between me drafting the rough plan on the computer, Brian sketching updates on my drawings and me going back to translate adjustments into the files. The end result won’t just be a clear plan for us to follow, but one we can share with other builders.
