Timelapse: Raising the walls

With all the walls framed, it was time to get ‘em up. Our original plan had been the standard of backyard builds: find some friends with strong backs and ply them with beer. But it’s a holiday weekend and our schedule can’t wait – rain is in the forecast. So we decided to use math instead.

With three lines already in the neighbor’s hundred-year-old horse chestnut tree from the trimming we gave it to prep the site, Brian was able to rig a pulley system to raise the rear wall fully sheared without any additional hands. Getting that in place and bolted to the trailer felt like a huge accomplishment. First wall up! Tomorrow we’ll sheet and raise the ends and – with luck – we’ll raise the front wall, which we’ll later sheet in place.
